Alex Trebek in new cancer PSA: 'I wish I had known sooner'

WASHINGTON (WJLA) -- Alex Trebek has teamed up with the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition to raise awareness for the disease he's been battling.

In a public service announcement the came out today, the "Jeopardy!" host says pancreatic cancer is "the only major cancer with a five-year survival rate in the single digits."

He encouraged people to be aware of the symptoms of the illness.

"I wish I had known sooner that the persistent stomach pain I experienced prior to my diagnosis was a symptom of pancreatic cancer," he says. "Other common symptoms can include mid back pain, unexplained weight loss, new onset diabetes and the yellowing of the skin or eyes."
